In August 2015, I traveled with colleagues to An Giang Province in southern Vietnam to visit beneficiaries of an innovative project that is helping 200 Cham ethnic minority women learn embroidery. Selling their embroidery, they earn incomes for themselves. We were inspired by the positive change that the small amount of money invested in this project is bringing to the lives of these women and their families.

600 participants from all over Vietnam have shared their expectations and solutions for Vietnam to become a developed and prosperous country in the next two decades.

The public administrative apparatus at different levels in Vietnam would be perfect in 2035. Such a dream apparatus would be achievable with concerted efforts made by the State and people alike.

Vietnam will have a strong and stable force of businesses, who will top the Asia in food exporting.

We youngsters hope Vietnam’s education sector will emulate that of Singapore’s and top the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2035. Such a promising prospect has always been students’ source of inspiration so that we will strive harder in our studies.

I hope that in the 20 years to come, Vietnam will pride itself on cities which are ingeniously designed to adjust well to climate change in 2035.

As a young researcher on international issues, I aspire that in the 20 years to come, a batch of young, committed academics would help better defend Vietnam’s sovereignty and make the country’s voice be heard on regional and global arenas.

Based on policies and strategies regarding national marine economic growth, I aspire that in the next 20 years, the State and society would ensure a sustainable livelihood for local fishermen so that they would stay dedicated to their job.
